Pepper Library Concludes Series of National Issues Forums

The Pepper Library, in partnership with the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress and the Kettering Foundation, hosted the third and final of a series of National Issues Forums on March 20, 2012. The topic of the third forum was “Coping with the Cost of Health Care: How Do We Pay for What we Need?” Forum participants included Gail Bellamy, Dr. Leslie M. Beitsch, Dr. Kenneth Brummel-Smith, William Weissert, and several public health graduate students.

Poet Maya Angelou – FSU’s 50th Anniversary of Integration Finale

Celebrated poet Maya Angelou will speak on Saturday, April 21, at the Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center. Doors open at 6PM, and the program begins at 7PM.

Angelou’s appearance is the finale to the weekend-long commemoration of Florida State’s historic integration a half-century ago. Hailed as a global “Renaissance woman,” she is a celebrated poet, memoirist, novelist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker and activist.

Norman Vincent Peale, author of The Power of Positive Thinking, once said, “Live your life and forget your age.” In this vein, the Tallahassee Senior Center is pleased to present “Attitudes about Ages: A Life Changing Workshop” on Monday, April 12. Lead by Sally Karioth, PhD, RN, and Ken Brummel-Smith, MD, the workshop will be held from 1:30-4 PM at the Senior Center.
